  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During the store apprenticeship course, you will be based within one of Aldi’s many stores. It is a 3 year long scheme where you achieve both a NVQ Level 2 AND 3. The level 2 Course lasts one year and you are a store assistant for this time, to develop an understanding and enchance skills during this time. The next two years you are in management training acting as a deputy manager within the store. You do everything from, allocating jobs, ensure the shop runs smoothly, monitoring performance, safe handling, helping meet KPI’s.

  • I have confident in managing people and know what is takes to make sure a retail company is running successfully.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy my job, there is never a boring or dull moment.

  • I feel like I’m a well respected part of the management team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It did go through a few hiccups as the training provider went into administration but this is all sorted know and have found a long term comfortable training provider. The assessors are great. Also, there is a training plan to adhere to so you know if you’re ahead of behind.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • They are always happy to answer your queries via text/email. Store visits are roughly every 3 weeks and are very supportive and helpful.

  • You feel like a very valued member of the team and do everything in their power to help you.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Very well. It rises each year and In currently on £8.05 an hour... which for an apprentice is fantastic.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • They try their best to give you a good work/life balance and give you the days off you require. But it is retail and sometimes these aren’t always possible.

  • Yes

  • Aldi is a great company to work for with a lot of prospects for higher management from a young age.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • If you don’t like hard work, this isn’t for you. It is well paid so it isn’t a push over. You need to have a willingness to work and a good attitude will get you a long way. Don’t moan or drag your feet if you get stuck with a task that isn’t very pleasing... this gets noticed and the good attitude can see you progress far up the management ladder
