  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role varied on the daily. I shadowed in different sections in Managed Services in EY. One day I would be shadowing people working in reporting solutions, the next in regulatory compliance and the following in cyber security. Basically my days were spent learning lots of new things and gaining an understanding on how the different solution areas within managed solutions varied.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a number of skills through my time at EY. I have built on my communication skills through introducing and talking to a variety of different people in the office. I also built on analytical skills as I had to pick out what information was important and look at if something were to be deemed as a risk whilst I was shadowing in cyber security.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • Yes, when I had questions I knew who to go to for answers as I was made to feel comfortable. After every day I had a counsellor and buddy catch up to see how I was feeling about the work/ shadowing I had done that day, during this time I could also ask any questions u had. I felt very supported as I could ask many people for help.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my program has been well organized, as I was given a timetable at the beginning of the week so I knew what the plan for the rest of the week would be. The plan i was given was flexable so when new tasks came up I was able to swop things around making room for everything I wanted/had to do.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I received a lot of support as when I started I was introduced to both a counsellor and a buddy. I found this very useful as I knew who to go to when I needed help or didn't understand something. Also, it made me feel more settled as they introduced me to others in the office.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I have been enrolled on a one week business academy program this was purely to gain work experience in a business environment. The money received during this week more than enough to cover my costs. Also, lunch was provided every day through a budget. I did not incur any additional costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I enrolled in a one week work experience program with EY purely to gain experience so this isn't really applicable. However, I learnt that there were plenty of different things to get involved with such as cycling for charity and different trips.

  • 9b. Why?
  • Based on the time I have spent with EY during my one week work experience business academy program I would say that there are plenty of opportunities here. There are many different things that you are able to get involved such as charity events with and lots of different perks.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would give others the advice to be confident in themselves, and if they are required to do any online assessments to just take their time while doing them and check the answers that they give. Also, if they had any questions they shouldn't be afraid to ask as everyone is very willing to help.
