  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My title at EY was Intern. The daily tasks where to attend virtual learning sessions and to help any member of the team if they needed it as much as I can. My responsibilities at EY where to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, which includes arriving on time for work and dressing appropriately. I was also given a certain project to help improve my presentation skills which was a weakness for me.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills mainly working online which was very new to me. However I have really developed existing skills such as time management, work ethic, interpersonal skills and professionalism. I have also learnt to become more independent by travelling to and from work, but also more independent with my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my week at EY. The most enjoyable moments where when we worked together in teams. I really enjoy being part of a team, as I have been playing a huge amount of hockey, since I was six, I am used to being in a team and already know the skills needed for a good team to work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I would be lying if I said that I feel appreciated by the whole team, because I was only here for a week. However I would like to say that I was appreciated by my counsellor, a few other members of the team and my buddy. I tried my best to help them out and make their life as easy as possible. I felt valued with the people that I worked closely with.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I felt that the organisation and the structure to the days at EY were fantastic, everything was very simple to learn, and adding certain meetings to the calendar was very effective. The training was also extremely organised and everything fit in with the day. The support as well was also structured very good and the team really helped with that.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I feel that I received a huge amount of support right from reception to my councillor. The accessibility of support was also perfect and made life so much easier whenever I was stuck. I feel that the general attitude towards supporting me was very friendly and there was no signs of frustration when I wasn't understanding something, everyone was happy to help. Overall I really enjoyed this experience.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As I only worked here for a week and didn't really expect a huge salary, I would say that he package was more than fair and helped with my travelling costs and my daily costs. I wasn't really looking for the salary however it was nice to hear that for the week we were being paid, which is more than appreciated.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have not been to any company events as of right now, but I am aware of plenty of company activities, such as the Wimbledon tennis event which I heard was very fun. I only wish I was here for a little longer to experience this with the team. However that didn't mean I didn't do anything outside of work. I had plenty of free time in the evening which I spent playing hockey, training and in the gym.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel that this experience has been nothing short of brilliant. I was always learning so much, and had the time to switch off and take a break. I experienced a new type of work which I found very beneficial and really valued this new challenge. The main appeal for me, was that step of moving from college and being a teenager to working and becoming a young adult.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • My first advice would be to make sure that you are used to long days. For me I was used to this as I have been working for a long time and I am used to being switched on for long periods, however if you are not used to this, the tiredness will catch up to you during the week. Another tip would be to make sure you be alert and always ask questions if you are unsure.
