  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Engineering maintenance, first year training basic skills of mechnical and electrical engineering along side a level 3 btec qualitication. In the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years doing various placements around the factory learning and developing new engineering skills by applying them to a real maintenance workplace situation.

  • Yes, I have developed my all round basic engineering skills and learnt a lot of theory based on what I'm doing practically

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the variety of different things to learn on the apprenticeship (teamwork, leadership, opportunities) and the challenge.

  • Very much, apprentices are highly valued and are seen as the future of the company

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well, the training is to a very high standard, a high ammount of extra support is offered, the layout of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year is well structured

  • A high ammount in working hours as well as extra support outside of working hours. All tutors have good attitudes when teaching apprentices

  • A lot, many opportunities are offered, good benefits from the company, employers are approachable if there is an issue that needs to be addressed

  • In terms of apprentice wage, BMW pay very high

  • Yes there are many company events and group company lesuire activities

  • It offers a range of apprenticeships, good opportunities and develops workplace skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Prepare a lot of previous workpieces and skills that have been completed beforehand (e.g. at school, college/sixth form, uni etc.) and sell yourself in the interview. Make sure to stand out from the rest of applicants as it is a tough, competitive process.
