Business Trainee Review

I am a Business Trainee within the Restructuring department working on a number of projects mainly dealing with companies in Liquidation.

As a Business Trainee we attend college to study towards an ACCA qualification. In addition we are also provided with training courses in the workplace, although these are not as frequent as I'd have hoped they'd be. The bulk of the learning is done on the job where I feel I have become much more organised in managing my workload as well as developing commercial skills due to the nature of the work.

Although the work is usually very interesting, as with any job there are often be dull tasks to be completed due to our position in the firm. The team I work with are friendly and approachable, regardless of their position, which is of huge benefit being a junior member of staff.

Expectations are generally quite high therefore unless you do something exceptional it will usually go unnoticed.

It is well structured in the sense that we are well supported on arrival having been assigned buddys and counsellors, although it becomes slightly vague when moving further into the programme as the programme guidlines are not always adhered to. Can sometimes feel development is restricted by the programme.

We receive training from First Intuition who cannot be faulted.

I feel that support is available if needed.

Sufficient to survive although low when compared to grads salary taking into consideration grads are given the same work. After rent, bills and suits for work not much is left over in the way of spending money.

There are many social events and also work societies. I play in the work football team, which is fully funded by EY.

If you perform well you have a well paid job at the end of the programme. The same cannot be said for those who go to uni.
