Integrated within a team working hands on with the engagement. I worked as part of a team in the UK&I Performance Improvement sector and was tasked with writing reports, putting together slide packs and researching in order to aid the team on the engagement.

I have learnt how to carry myself in the business environment, from business etiquette to formal writing and so on. This helped with networking and interacting within the business and with clients.

I enjoyed my first year on the programme. The company culture was great and I never felt inferior.

There is a lot of support, both from the team I was with to the use of a buddy and a mentor. I felt as though the work I was doing was aiding the team and it was evaluated and discussed in a professional way.

Knew what was happening every step of the way. Was given adequate training and advice before stepping into the workplace.

Enough to evaluate my goals.

The mentor scheme was good in keeping up with goals and the team were happy to step away from their work and help at any time possible.

The salary was adequate in covering costs, although much of it went on transport as I live outside the TfL zone and national rail services are pricey.

There wasn't many opportunities outside of work that were evident immediately.

Enthusiasm to learn will get you a long way. No one expects you to be an expert from day one. The experience is all about learning and gaining experience. Show enthusiasm and willingness to learn and you will go far.
