  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I assisted in the audit of a couple of firms, namely Siemens plc. The tasks involved those of an interim audit, and was very hands-on, including numerous difficult tasks and starting auditing documents from scratch. I dealt with my colleague and client on a day-to-day basis, in constant communication.

  • I have learnt some auditing and excel skills, and how to deal with people in a professional manner.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was very good and challenging, constantly making me want to work harder in order to impress - allowing me to network and talk to many different people.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • There was a strong top-down feel of integration, and the allowment to be involved in an interim audit in a two-man team allowed me to get some real experience. The appraisal allowed me to see where I went well, and where I could improve.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There was plenty of support coming from all areas within EY, where every level was happy to help and to get you inducted into the procedures. Tasks were delegated based on their difficulty, so it wasn't too tricky.

  • They are always happy to help with any problems, and offered a tutor and advisor to us to ask questions to, should we need any.

  • Salary exceeds cost of living so that I can make some money during my placement - despite working in London,

  • There are plenty of extra activities available, should I want to engage in them.
