  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The apprenticeship focuses on developing my skills as a civil engineer. It has begun with a broad spectrum of general engineering training, both in the workshop and classroom. I am now moving into my placements in the wider business. This will involve shadowing others and completing projects on my own.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Transport for London?
  • I feel TFL puts a lot of stock in their apprentice program. We are made to feel like the future of the company and have met many ex apprentices in great roles across the company. We are given so much time and support you can't help but feel valued by the company.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I feel all my needs are met and I know if I have any issues I have someone to speak to, however I'm not sure if that's because of the training provider or the employer. All I know is that I have access to all the support I need to achieve my goals.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary/package is generous when compared to other apprenticeships and I appreciate this because it allows me to live and work in London. I do find I use all my wage every month and cannot save very much at all.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I think there are good opportunities outside work. We receive emails from the institute about events that are happening. I would like to know even more about what I can do to get involved with STEM and other activities.
