  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides excellent support for me within my role. My manager ensures that I get the best out of all opportunities that come my way. Members of my team also support me by taking time to sit down and explain things to me in a non-technical way so that I can understand the concept and grasp the knowledge to understand it more technically.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For an apprenticeship I feel that I am paid a really good salary with extra benefits such as a staff oyster card. This helps me ensure that I pay my monthly costs and still enable me to put some money away.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of events that are outside of work. TfL have event days at their museums, whereby families can come along and see the history of TfL. They also hold events at bus garages so people can see what it is like inside a bus garage and understand what goes on. There are also the usual socialising on a regular basis, and members from the department go out for drinks on a Friday.

  • 9. Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • TfL is by far the best company I have worked for. They highly value and look after their staff and I feel that I always have someone to speak to if I have any problems. There is so much opportunity in TfL and it is so dynamic, with various projects underway. No day is the same here at TfL and I really love that. It is undoubtedly the best opportunity I've ever received.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • My advice would be to just try your best and apply for the role that you feel is most suitable for you. The apprenticeships get a lot of applicants and it is a tough process but just give it your best efforts and focus and you will get it. Once you are in, it opens up a world of opportunity for you; learning by an expert's side provides knowledge and experience that you will not get from sitting in a University Lecture all day.
