  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Majority of my roles at CGI have been software development, this involved writing and testing code, having daily stand up calls, designs and implementation of new features. I very much enjoy what I do.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many new skills as a developer, going onto new projects often brings the opportunity to work on new technologies and develop new skills. For example I've recently got into Angular JS and Node JS which I've found very powerful languages. I've had the opportunity to work with moderately new technologies such as Raspberry Pi's.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Career Managers are available to give you the best advice for what you want to do with your career, there isn't a big issue with the accessibility of support although it can sometimes be months without hearing from your career manager.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary was fine for me, travel & living costs are low so there is not an issue with the salary I'm being paid. If I was travelling further and wasn't living at home then I'd probably be giving a different score.

  • Research the company and know what area you want to get into, have a good idea on the role and technologies you want to be involved in and make sure your enthusiasm for that shows.
