Apprentice - Client Assistant Review

As an apprentice at Aon, my role consisting of supporting various teams within my Department, so that I can gain an extensive understanding and practical experience across many sectors to make an informed decision at the end of my Apprenticeship; as to where I want my career to go. Each day I participate in liasing with clients, drafting policies, creating reviews and reports, whilst working alongaside Directors. My day consist of 25% study and 75% practical work.

Since beginning at Aon, I have been able to improve my time-management skills, prioritisation and my confidence. Through my monthly exam revision workshop and ongoing support, I am already grasping a detailed knowledge of insurance.

I really do enjoy the programme, it is engaging, challenging and it really has settled me well into work. The team I have joined is incredibly supportive and are always eager to help me along the way.

I feel highly valued as an Apprentice, as we are all treated equally at Aon and sometimes they forget I am an Apprentice infact! My Manager ensures that she catches up with me and is well informed at all times about my progress.

My programme is highly structured and organised, due to my 25:75 ratio of studying and work. I have an 18-month plan to demonstrate how I will move from team to team within my programme, making sure I have as many opportunities as possible to succeed.

In terms of the support from my training provider, we meet as a group of Apprentices each month to go through chapters of the exam in detail to ensure we are well equipped and supportive. Our training provider is only an email away at all times.

In terms of the support I recieve from my employer, I feel that I am well supported within my team, as they always aim to ensure that I am not stressed but that I have enough work to make mt day challenging and enjoyable. Everyone I have met at Aon is approachable, without a shadow of a doubt.

At the current time, my salary meets my costs well. Although I live at home, I can afford to drive to work and as I work in Chelmsford the commute is painless.

In regards to the opportunities outside of work, although it does primarily come down to the type of person you are, there are always events and activities going on outside of work for you to get involved with. Every team is highly sociable and not a month goes by, where there isn't some sort of event!

I would recommend Aon to anyone, as in terms of insurance apprenticeships, there is nothing in comparison within the area in terms of support, salary and opportunities. The key fact about Aon and that really enticed me to apply, was the fact that there is a secure job awaiting me at the end of my apprenticeship. Security, something that University doesn't promise!

If you're like me and easily get nervous and stressed about Assessment Days, stay calm and be yourself. It doesn't matter if you aren't perfect, a good manager will know if you are the type of person they are looking for. Research, research, research Aon - that is cruical. Enjoy the experience!
