I'm currently working on a security assurance team and have varied daily tasks ranging from financial reporting to producing or reviewing project documentation.
During my time on the programme, I have definitely become much more skilled at analysing information (e.g. financials), writing in a commercially/legally aware style, and managing projects.
My enjoyment of the programme has varied depending on the role I've been doing at the time. I have previously had roles which I have very much enjoyed but equally have had some that have been less enjoyable. Overall, I would say my experience has been positive and that I am happy with the culture of the company.
I feel valued by CGI which is reiterated by the competitive salary and other flexible benefits. I would say there isn't a lot of emphasis on internal recognition but I know it does sometimes happen.
The programme is quite well structured with the university years being the main measurement for progression. The organisation is also of a reasonably high standard with reps being responsible for feeding back any uni or work related issues
The university offer a good amount of support both through the course tutor as well as through a dedicated study skills department who offer help with areas such as academic writing.
The support provided by CGI has been really positive with members from human resources, managers and assigned mentors all offering to help as and when needed.
The initial salary was reasonably low but the stepped progression along with the relocation package and travel expenses (for commutes to a location other than your base office) have been really good.
There are quite a lot of events offered by the company's dedicated Sports and Social club ranging from weekly sporting events (e.g. football) to one off steak tasting evening and meals out.
Yes
The programme offers a really good start for people at the beginning of their career and the varied nature of the business provides plenty of room to gain a wide variety of experience.
Read about the various projects and industries that CGI is involved in (I realise it's difficult to fully understand), practice interview questions and consider what activities may be involved at the assessment day.
