I am a Developer apprentice here at CGI. Where I work with my team creating/maintaining a IT system for a company in dublin. Each day is different, I may be asked one day to work on some database issues and the next have a look at developing the visual aspect of the system using Apex.
I have learnt a wide variety of skills whilst working here for CGI. I have been sent on multiple training courses to expand my skills and also get in-house teaching through CGI. Learning everyday through my colleague's guidance.
I thoroughly enjoy working here at CGI. Brilliant opportunity for me to learn new skills in a busy and competitive working environment.
I feel extremely valued by CGI, very much a full-fledged member of the team and workforce. Always being asked what can be changed about the organisation etc.
I feel my programme is structured very well. A good mix of training courses and then breaks to work with my team in the office allows me to learn in multiple ways. I have frequent meetings with my Mentor/Manager and Apprentice co-ordinator to ensure that I am on track and doing the right things.
I feel very supported by my training provider, frequent emails and face to face meeting allows me to stay up to date with my progress.
I feel very supported by CGI, they are always happy to do what is best for my learning, whether it be giving me some extra time to finish some essays or helping me with in-house work.
The Salary is good. Travel costs have been a bit of an issue recently due to having to travel a fairly far distance from the office.
Lots! Always being invited to various out of work activities by many people in the office. Company meals are always good fun and lots of discounts/opportunities given to us throughout the week.
Yes
Great place to develop your skills as an employee. Everyone is here to support you and you are valued as a full-on member of the company.
Have a look at a few IT qualifications before applying for the role. I found my experience that I had before starting here has helped me massively. Also be prepared to travel a fair amount in the first 6 months, there are a number of training courses in London and Reading that need to be completed.
