  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working within a project to provide administration support. Supporting the Project Manager, working with communications team for the programme and client communications team to form communications for the project team. Keeping trackers of change requests and providing back up for project team resourcing requests.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills while working in my role. I have also been on 4 training courses as part of my career development and as part of my apprenticeship. I have also gained skills in excel that I previously didn't have. This was developed through learning from team members. I also have the chance to gain new skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • For the most part I enjoy the work, the only time I don't enjoy is when I don't have much to do in the project but thats mainly over holiday periods. I really enjoy being in my current team, because we're not just "modern apprentices" and are a valued part of our team. I enjoy the dynamics of the team as well, being such a diverse team gives me and another apprentice a chance to network well and grow within our rolls in the team.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • I've been very lucky when working in CGI, and have had some really amazing managers, who have given chances to have more responsibility. Internal recognition works well throughout the company, with quarterly recognition awards within the business unit. I feel in the team I'm currently in that I'm valued, as I am able to bring something to the team and that I'm involved with different tasks.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within the company I don't see much structure or organisation within the apprenticeship programme. Our training provider provides the structure and organisation of the programme. I feel we don't get the time required for studying, especially with an upcoming exam, however this is something we're working with managers to overcome.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training provider is excellent in providing all kind of support for the learners and I cannot complain about them in any way.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I think it depends on your manager and you can receive some support from other higher members in the company.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I feel my wage, at the moment, works fine for my living costs. I couldn't afford to live close to work, so travelling can be expensive, and sometimes I feel worried about being able to afford it. I live alone, in a one bedroom flat, so costs are (most of the time) fairly low and my wage happily covers them. I don't have many social costs, because i don't go out often and if I can't afford it at the time I wont buy it/go out.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Through the company I'm sure there are many opportunities, but I'm currently a volunteer with two organisations that take up the majority of my free time. Social events with work, when held, are very good and ell attended.

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think CGI's a great company to work for because there's such a large verity of roles available to us all.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • Learn about the company and know what kind of area you want to go in to. Leave plenty of time to do all paperwork. At assessment days try to be noticed for the good reasons, and don't fade into the background.
