Junior Project Manager. Involves managing a various of projects in the applications sector for a secure client. Responsibilities involve managing the client, suppliers, third party etc and ensuring a smooth delivery.
Developed new skills within my role and learnt skills whilst on my degree. Completed a higher level apprenticeship with QA and am in my final year of completing my BA Business Management degree
Great programme offering a lot of opportunities however SDP element needs a few improvements, especially with communications. Work life and university balance can sometimes be hard to maintain however team are very supportive.
I feel valued by CGI and am offered a good salary package. Appreciation from my project is always valued highly and I have received a recognition award for my efforts on the sponsored degree programme.
Programme isn't as organised as I'd hoped, a lot of the comms is done through word of mouth however we do have an induction day. Training is done at university but there is not any support meetings that I have attended. We do receive a 'buddy/mentor' when we first join to help settle in which was useful.
Training provider helps us as and when we need the help, if we shout they would be there to support us. The times I have contacted them about a problem they have been there to support me.
Again, employer will help if it is required. This is usually the role of our people manager who we can go to for work related queries or alternatively our line manager for specific project related queries.
Very well. Pleased with the salary and package offered as an undergraduate. This was a struggle with living costs in first and second year but it was manageable, third year has seen a good pay rise.
If you would like to get involved in opportunities outside of work there are some available dependant on your project and base location. In terms of the SDP programme specifically not much is offered in terms of events and activities and it would be good to see more involvement within the SDP community.
Yes
Overall my experience has been positive, it is a good way to not only gain a degree but gain work experience too without the debt and added extras.
Be yourself on the assessment day, confidence is key. With the sponsored degree programme you have got toe be prepared to work hard as it is not easy managing a full time job and degree so I'd say if your not prepared to put in the hours this programme is not for you.
