  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Junior project manager, daily tasks involve managing projects from bid stage through to delivery. Daily interactions with client and third party suppliers. Managing a range of infrastructure projects, specifically in the accommodation moves services team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Leant a lot of skills whilst involved in this project. Key skills involve client communication. On the programme as a whole I am working towards my BA in Business Management, I am wanting to complete my Prince 2 foundation and Prince 2 practioner if this gets approved internally.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Programme is good in terms of gaining a degree whilst working. It gives you the flexibility to practically gain skills in the work environment which are transferrable in the university degree. Not enough support on the programme and therefore this is an area that does require improving.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • I feel valued on my current project. Previous project I wasn't valued and internal and external recognition as a sponsored degree student I do not feel any value.

    5/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say not organised well at all. We receive very little to no guidance, it all seems to be through word of mouth. I have never attended a support meeting held by the sponsored degree programme. Support in terms of job role I have received through my people manager but this purely work focused rather than university focused.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Minimal support but if I were to email they would get back to me with a solution however this could be avoided with regular meetings.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Again, minimal support but if I were to email they would get back to me with a solution however this could be avoided with regular meetings.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Very good salary and package. No faults with this. Am able to live with money to spare however first year's salary was a struggle as this was nearly half what we are on now.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are company activities should you wish to join like the sports and social club but these are CGI based rather than sponsored degree focused. Unless SDP students organise events there is very rarely anything on.

    6/10

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall a good way of learning on the job and gaining a degree at the same time. A good salary package for students joining as an undergraduate.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • With the onboarding process, the best way to learn more is to talk to fellow sponsored degree students. I found this was more useful than the information provided by the SDP programme themselves.
