  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have recently moved to a role in Foundation. I am a Foundation Business Administrator. On a day-to-day basis I am gathering the relevant information on other apprenticeships to ensure they meet the OCR requirements, as well as organizing the correct education courses and inductions for new and current early professionals.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been on a few internal courses that have allowed me to develop my communication skills, software knowledge and overall understanding in recruitment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My new role is exactly what I was looking for, the overall experience of an apprenticeship with such a global company means the team I work within has such a vast variety of culture, experiences and knowledge.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by IBM?
  • I feel hugely valued and highly recognized within the company. I am allowed and able to get invoked within any task no matter how small or big and even projects of high importance. We get a lot of appreciation if we make ourselves heard.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not too well but part of my new role is to improve the structure and layout of the apprenticeship program. However the training and development we receive is extremely well structured and also made up of extreme enthusiasm and genuinely fun. The meetings within our personal manager and task manager is also well organized as well as the communication between these two managers and ourselves.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • An extreme amount of support from a whole team of individuals who we an turn too at any time. Really focus of building links between anyone and everyone within the company.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive an inspiring attitude from IBM and they really do encourage us to reach our potential, as well as giving us th4e chances and opportunities to do this.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is always going to be hard to survive within everyday life however compared to most other employers we receive a decent salary and the package within this goes above and beyond most other jobs I know of. Offering us medical cover, pension, car schemes and many more.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The amount of company events and activities is just unreal. As well as there being the potential to start any group clubs or sports within the company.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The amount the company can offer is unbelievable and like no other company. The opportunities they can give any individual is unreal and also they have the scope for you to go anywhere within the company. The Global company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Keep up with the long application process and don't give up even if it is a month or two between hearing from IBM.
