I am currently in a subcontract role for the public sector contracts which involves reading contracts, and drafting amendments as well as engaging with the customers.
I have learnt how to be analytical in situations and how to work well under pressure and within a team environment. external training is given on specific topics relevant to your role and general training such as Project management workshops are given as well.
I am really enjoying my programme and am very grateful for the opportunities it is giving me every day in being a part of the working world whilst studying a degree along side.
I feel very valued within CGI and I feel that my opinion is acknowledged and that I am able to contribute to discussions on all topics of which I learn so much from as well. my manager is very helpful and values my work to a great extend and praises me for doing activities that I either haven't done before or have improved on.
the programme is vey structured with help from managers, buddies, colleagues, pears and general company support. there is a hierarchy within the company but it isn't forced upon you at all and we are all treated as individuals.
I have lectures every Monday where I can discuss with tutors about my progress. my buddy is available 24 7 and she is of great help with the simple questions that you don't always want to ask your manager. I have great help from my colleague who supports my work and also went through the scheme so understands the pressure of university as well.
my manager gives me a lot of support with weekly catch up meetings to discuss my progress and what I will be doing in the following week. this also provides me with the opportunity to ask for more support or to contribute more to work if I feel this is something I would like to get involved in.
my salary meets my living costs very well and with work being close by my day to day travel is minimal with any extra travel or expenses being given back.
my year group puts together several events during the term and there are also events within my work team where we will go out for lunch together or attend evening conferences such as the women's networking group.
