I am a tester so I run test scripts and test bug fixes, this involves conferring with others on the best testing approach
I have learnt a lot of testing techniques and also had to develop my communication skills
There is a lot to do so it keeps me busy and mostly the work is interesting to complete
I have been given extra responsibilities on several occasions and am trusted to get work done to a good standard with little oversight
The training has not been organised as well as it could have been as we are told dates and changes very late making for difficult conversations with managers about having time off, especially during busy periods
There isn't a lot of contact between us and the training provider other than informing us of upcoming training and occasional deadlines
CGI are quite facilitating with giving us time to do coursework which is helpful but balancing work between the two is still difficult
The cost of living in this area is very high and even house sharing with 3 other people I still spend over half my salary on rent alone. My travel costs are manageable with car sharing but alone they would start to add up
The are lots of social events that are open to everyone and lots of activities during lunch hours aswell
Yes
Its an okay place to start
You have to fight for things you might not expect to need to fight for, especially fair pay rises
