1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Taking minutes in meetings and creating the Minutes and Agenda for them. Creating packs and presentations. Using Microsoft Office Suite. Holding meetings.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

How to formally communicate. Use Excel to an advanced level. Learning new software.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the people I work with, especially in my team. The company has lovely employees who are all willing to help each other out and go out of their way for others. The office is at a high standard with all floors being exceptionally clean.

4. How valued do you feel by Nomura?

I feel valued as my manager or senior manager gives good feedback to me regularly. I have also been nominated externally from my apprenticeship company for apprentice of the month.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The induction was clear as I had multiple training sessions to help me learn about the company and their policies. I am able to use some work time to complete my coursework for my apprenticeship so I am able to get some of the units completed. My manager asks for updates regularly to see how I am getting on and what else needs to be completed.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

I receive good support, however there are times when I feel my assessor doesn't explain things properly then has told me I have done things incorrectly etc.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive good support from my manager as he will help me with units I am stuck on or when my assessor has told me I have done things incorrectly, my manager will then clarify with him and explain to me what I need to change.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I think the salary is excellent for an apprenticeship as most places do not give enough to others. However the travelling costs can be expensive for an apprentice which is the only downside. The location of the company is easy to get to which makes the travelling slightly easier

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

The company hold quite a few events that employees can go to. However a lot of employees will hold events if they are leaving etc or if there is an occasion. There is a charity committee that employees can join too. The company also have a gym in the building, a GP and other health employees if an employee needs them.

9. Would you recommend Nomura to a friend?

9b. Why?

The company is great to work for and have employed so many lovely people, who will go out of their way for you. The office is at an excellent standard compared to other companies. Anyone would enjoy working here and would be lucky to have a great opportunity here.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nomura?

Be yourself and be positive in the application process and interview. Research good interview skills if its your first interview and make sure you know the job role it is for.
