2016 School & College Leaver Programme

This is your opportunity to challenge thinking, change the world around us, and help create amazing buildings and infrastructure. We are looking for exceptional school or college leavers to fill roles within the following specialist areas: Civil Engineering, Digital Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Human Capital, Procurement and Estimating, Planning, Business/Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing.

A five-year programme that combines academic learning with on-the-job training. Successful candidates will complete a fully funded accredited day-release degree in their chosen area of interest while working as a Laing O’Rourke employee. The programme also includes a series of in-house modules, aimed at exposing you to the latest developments in construction and engineering. You will be mentored through the programme by experienced employees, who will support your personal and professional growth using career planning toolkits and tailored development plans. During this time, you will hold a range of roles, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your career progression and will contribute towards your professional development.

Years 1 & 2 development focus

  • Learning how to do your job, understanding how your project works and becoming familiar with the people who work alongside you
  • Progressing with your professional qualification and university qualification

Years 3 – 5 development focus

  • Socialising you into the wider LOR business
  • Progressing with your professional qualification and university qualification
  • Providing opportunities for you to add value for yourself and for LOR
