1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
I am an associate accountant. I work on a broad range of clients providing different service lines, such as accounts preparation, audit, VAT returns and management accounts. I have recently begun to in-charge junior members of the team.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I qualified AAT in August 2014 and I am now half way through my ACCA qualification. I attend internal training sessions which develop my audit and accounts expertise. We have regular technical updates so I learn a lot about the new accounting standards and other areas. When I first began at Grant Thornton, I didn't know anything about accounts or audits, I can now fully complete a compilation and most stages of an audit.
