  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job role consists off cleaning and maintaining guest rooms withing my hotel, ensuring that all surfaces are sanitised with the correct chemicals, that bathrooms are cleaned, and that fresh linen is put into the rooms once the room has been fully cleaned and sanitised.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently developing my skills within the reception area and learning what jobs and responsibilities reception is given to ensure the best type of service for our guests. I'm also learning why its important for both receptionists and house keepers to work together to ensure that guests would like to come back.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme as I see it as something I can use to work my way up within the hospitality industry and as my knowledge grows my passion for working within whitbread grows and helps me to figure out potential ways to help improve the business further and how we can ensure that guests have the best stay possible

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that the programme is quite organised, but i do feel that more things on my half and others that off the job hours could be more planned through out each month, as this will ensure that targets are met. But I feel that the structure overall is really helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive quite a bit of support from my employer, especially when it comes to figuring things out to do for my off the job hours and by providing myself with information and extra online training to boost my knowledge around different areas within hospitality.

  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider as we focus of the important aspects with will ensure that I am working towards my qualifications at the best level of understanding for me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the information and qualifications gained helps me to not only perform better, but it gives me a better understanding of what the standards are to giving a great service, not matter which role it is, and also it helps to boost my confidence within my role due to having a better understanding of my position.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes we have charity events that take place that helps to raise money for our sites chosen charity. We also have dinners around particular holidays, for example christmas.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel that my job role in particular is very good for students who are still in education as the hours are very flexible and the days are not long unlike in full time jobs, which still gives students time to study. This can be the same for parents as the short hours are easy and manageable


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • I would just say that its a very good and comfortable work environment to be in.
