  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job role is always exciting as every day is different. I am passionate about problem solving which is the key function of my role. On a day-to-day I support urgent maintenance calls and I am in charge of carrying out planned preventative maintenance checks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned the specific DIY, plumbing and electrical engineering methods used for hotel systems and also how to control risks by doing monthly meter readings and weekly sprinkler tests.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my programme as there is a prolific amount of knowledge I gain from every educational workshop and also every work shift where I shadow shift engineers. I love the fact that there is a healthy education / work balance.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured as I know when every single meeting and quarterly review will take place ahead of time and I am always constantly updated with any information. I have been provided with a structured programme list for my entire apprenticeship which keeps me well organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive daily contact from my employer and they constantly remind me of their support which allows me to feel appreciated and valued. Every time I have had a request, they have dealt with it promptly and have been there to clarify any curiosities I have had.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is amazing as I am always provided with knowledge and encouragement to go back into my job role with confidence. My training provider has outlined the plan to work towards my qualifications and constantly contacts me via emails and video calls with necessary information and tasks.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification definitely helps me to feel more confident and competent within my daily role at work. It allows me to work more assertively and independently as I learn how to manage risks and work safely through the workshops I attend.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There seem to be many extra-curricular activities at my workplace. So far I’ve been honoured to attend christmas / new years parties and social outings with colleagues from the department I work in.
