  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I predominantly focus on the implementation and management of non-conformances on the BBV/HS2 project to ensure they are closed out effectively as given in our procedural guidelines. I also help review documents such as Inspection & Test Plans and I am also involved out on site conducting inspections and surveillances.

  • I have learned new skills through my job role based on the nature of work there. I had not worked in this type of industry previously so I have had to learn pretty much everything from scratch. However I have also developed existing skills such as report writing.

  • The structure was well organised. We knew our baselines, key dates, and even our learning sessions were at the same times on the same days every two weeks which really helped stick to a comfortable routine.

  • I received a lot of support from my employer in order to develop the skills learned in my apprenticeship to my work setting. My Line Manager was always involved in the programme in the background so that they were aware of what was happening and if we needed extra help.
