  • To learn new skills and gain knowledge so that I can be a competent electrical engineer

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of theory knowledge about electrical components and I have also developed practical skills using tools and wiring up electrical components and creating cable enclosure systems

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my practical experience very much however tech cert days can be quite long and sometimes learn about things not relevant to me. I also don’t enjoy my tutorials and think it is a waste of time as no one learns anything and the time could be put to better use.

  • The programme is very well organised

  • I receive support from my employer if I ask for it.

  • I receive support when I am stuck and ask for help but sometimes they let me figure it out on my own so that I can improve .

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think some of the things we are doing won’t be used on board a ship and isn’t very applicable but does help me learn more about electrical systems

  • Not in the first year of my apprenticeship that I am aware of

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it pays well while doing something that is enjoyable, I much prefer it to normal school(A levels/university)

  • Show good attitude and motivation
