  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Within my role I work on projects/processes , which helps WTW improve or save costs. I also help another team operationally, which involves supporting the business units.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my teamworking and communication skills , as my role involves interacting with lots of colleagues. It's improved my ability to speak to other/get my thoughts across to them. As well whilst in meetings or sending emails to ensure my communication is direct and understandable to others. It's also helped me develop the skill of balancing workloads and ensuring all deadlines are met on time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it's allowed me develop new skills and has helped improve my confidence when speaking to new people I work with. It also constantly challenges me and no day whilst working is ever the same. However, one downside is the lack of direct/scheduled in learning for my apprenticeship study. As well as this no one else in the Ipswich office is doing this apprenticeship, so can't discuss any issues/problems I have with others.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship learning could be better structured, as it mostly relies on me learning the content myself instead of a tutor/teacher being present to support me. Initially when joining WTW my work structure could have been better organised, as at first I didn't always have work to be focused on.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive all the support needed by my employer, as there's always colleagues who can assist me with work I am unsure on. The apprenticeship offer their support as well. However, a meeting wasn't arranged with me to ask how I was getting on with my apprenticeship. Which was promised to all apprentices.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I currently have reviews every 6 weeks with my progress tutor, when entering the 'Gateway' stage of my apprenticeship I believe these will occur more often. However, if needed I can contact my tutor whenever I need support. There is also fortnightly learning sessions provided, which is openly invited to all undergoing the apprenticeship. This covers a different project management topic each time. I also have access to TrainingBytesize which includes videos and notes on all of the topics I need to learn for my course. However, I do feel some weekly more 'personal' sessions in which I can ask about any topics I am unsure of would be very beneficial to my learning.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have just started my new apprenticeship learning and so far I wouldn't say it has been too beneficial to me performing better in my role. However, as I begin to learn more of my course content then it may become more useful.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The only extra-curricular activities I am aware of are walks, pilates and occasional networking events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a large and growing organisation, so there is always new opportunities of work in the company. The people within WTW are all friendly and welcoming, making it a nice environment to work in. The opportunity to work from home is also beneficial, as they provide resources to do so and it means travelling into the office isn't always necessary.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • I would advice them to be confident, be ready for challenging questions and have scenarios in which they can refer to. I would also advice them in the group task at the end of the interview stage to make sure they are actively being involved and showing they can work in a team/communicate effectively.
