  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Housekeeping role consists of cleaning rooms and public areas for the arrival of new guests. Head Housekeeper role consists of managing the housekeeping team, including giving daily briefings to the team, allocating their daily tasks and checking their work once their rooms are completed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • developed computer skills by creating task lists, logging rejected linen etc. developed a good understanding of how to effectively check that rooms are up to brand standard. carrying out team briefings and working with the team has developed my communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning new things in the role, receiving help/feedback from my learning coach and seeing the outcome of my work e.g. working through aptem tasks, results of business project etc. However, I do get nervous with some aspects of the EPA such as the professional discussion and observation as I struggle to perform well under pressure.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is structured well and my learning coach always makes time to have meetings with me as needed. I struggle to remember what is expected for some assessments so mock assessments for things like observation or pro discussion are helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer allows me to learn and practise things I need to know for the role. I also work well with my Head Housekeeper who has experience of the role and encourages my progress throughout the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider helps me to see which tasks are expected of me and how long I have to complete them

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have learnt more about the processes of the role such as health and safety with chemicals, how to work effectively with the team etc.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Premier Inn works with Great Ormond Street Hospital charity to raise money with various events. I attended a 5K run with members of mine and other hotel sites and was able to raise money from friends and family.
