  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently exposed to both engineering and technician work. Two days a week I am in the workshop, carrying out maintenance tasks to keep the plant safe and efficient. I then work two days in the office where I am learning how to write up job cards.

  • I have learned the basics of calibrating tools and equipment, as well as how the site operates and what machinery there is on site.

  • I enjoy my programme when I am busy doing work and set tasks to do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured. I am exposed to various different roles around the station which allows me to understand the station further.

  • I am well supported from my employer when I come to people with questions, I always recieve detailed answers.

  • I am given time to complete college work which is beneficial.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The current qualifications I am gaining do not benefit me at work very much, however I'm sure the more I get into my college work the more helpful it will be.

  • I am unaware of any extra curricular activities present at my site.

  • 9a. Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • SSE is a great company to work for. The instruments I am exposed to at work will give me a great understanding of how power plants work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • When preparing for an interview, learn about the company. Also prepare for standard interview questions so you can walk into the interview prepared and confident.
