  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am only three month into the apprenticeship. Work does start off slow and mainly admin tasks to begin with but as the months go on and you become more knowledgeable with apprentice information the work increases and levels up. I would advise to use the time you have in the early days to get ahead on your apprentice work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, too many to count. You are entering a corporate world where you can flourish. It's hard to list them as there are so many, some I may not even be aware of.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is interesting and there is lots to learn. As you get further along in the programme you are able to apply it to work. It is always rather exciting when it all finally comes togther.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Working at Natwest is amazing and the staff are incredibly supportive, however the apprenticeship training provider is where it lacks slightly. You are thrown in at the deep end and before you know it there is a deadline and you haven't been taught how to write your submissions in a way that you will pass so the majority fail first time. They teach you with failure as their feedback is to a high standard, upon second submission you pass (usually). I will say that in Natwest you have a buddy who is doing the same course as you and they are a saving grace but a year ahead. If it wasn't for my buddy I would have been clueless.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is lots of support from the employer to the best of their abilities. However your line manager is not going to know the ins and outs of your apprenticeship. Whilst you have 1 day a week allocated to you apprenticeship there is not much more you line manager can do to support you. They are of course a fountain of knowledge so they are very useful if you have any questions

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From BPP you receive an onboarding coach who is with you for the first 3-4 months. They are not necessarily specific to your apprenticeship so can't always help with all questions but they will find out and get back to you. They are more there for general questions rather than specific ones. You will then be given a permanent coach, I have not been given mine yet so can't comment on that. In regards to the learning you will have webinars and self learning to complete which are very detailed but there is not much support if you have questions you just need to make your own notes and compile it yourself.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The information learnt on the apprenticeship is highly valuable when it comes to my day role. A lot of it doesn't make sense in the beginning but it does all come together eventually.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are plenty. Lots of different networks to join.

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think they are a very good company that understands work life balance and genuinely cares for its employees.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Do your research, there are a lot of questions in the interviews.
