  • As a DevOps apprentice, my focus at RWE is on learning and contributing to the optimization of our software delivery processes. I'm gaining hands-on experience with automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve efficiency. My responsibilities include assisting in managing environments, learning about security measures, and participating in monitoring activities. Day-to-day tasks involve engaging in team meetings, troubleshooting issues with guidance, and supporting the enhancement of automation workflows. I'm committed to absorbing technical expertise and contributing to the culture of continuous improvement within the DevOps team at RWE.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Before joining RWE as a DevOps apprentice I had little knowledge on what DevOps is as well as basic coding knowledge. However, as an apprentice here due to the great guidance I receive as well as the online classrooms set up by QA my knowledge on DevOps and coding have been greatly enhanced allowing me to efficiently work with the senior team as well.

  • As a DevOps apprentice at RWE, I thoroughly enjoy the program. The hands-on experience with innovative technologies and collaboration within the DevOps team has been both exciting and educational. The supportive environment fosters continuous learning and contributes to my understanding of the pivotal role DevOps plays in project success. I'm grateful for the mentorship and the dynamic atmosphere at RWE, making my apprenticeship an engaging and rewarding experience.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From my Training provider which is QA, I get a decent amount of support from them ranging from any questions I need answered or just general guidance upon some of the coursework material. QA also have their own cloud academy section where I am able to effectively go through some examples of coding or just get on with a hands-on lab.

  • My qualification from the training provider significantly enhances my performance as a DevOps apprentice at RWE. The comprehensive program provides a solid foundation in DevOps principles and practical skills, directly applicable to my role. The hands-on approach has bridged the gap between theory and application, allowing me to confidently contribute to the team's objectives. This qualification has proven invaluable in preparing me for real-world challenges within the dynamic DevOps environment at RWE.

  • There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work. RWE has their own cricket team, as well as different events taking place throughout the year to celebrate different cultures. Furthermore, a lot of teams tend to go out and socialise especially during lunch when everyone is taking a break.
