  • I am a site engineer that on the day to day sets out work for operatives to carry out, I translate designs to site. I shadow a senior site engineer.

  • I have developed my management and problem solving skills a lot. In just 5 months I have learnt tons of new skills.

  • I extremely enjoy learning on the job at my apprenticeship, I am treated like a qualified engineer.

  • My college blocks is very well organised in that they are very efficient.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Bam is extremely supportive for learning, there is never a wrong question to ask and there is tons of support when it comes to developing your skills an knowledge.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When is college i would say that the support is there from a our teachers and any questions we do have are answered.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I would say that Leeds college of building gave me the building blocks for when I went on site and now I can develop on those skills given.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a different events that happen throughout the year, for example we attempt the Yorkshire three peaks every year.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There apprenticeship programme is nothing like any like any other programme in the construction industry.

  • Give it a go, be yourself and enjoy it.
