  • I am based on site, working alongside the office team (agents, other engineers, foreman) and site team (ground operatives) to collectively build the project using drawings and engineering equipment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Extracting data from drawings and specifications nd applying this on-site, swell as using engineering equipment. Communication skills with stakeholders, suppliers and team members.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as it is tailored so that you can learn valuable skills on site that may not be taught at university. It has helped me prepare the start of my career path well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured, and allows time to study/revise for exams.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is support from my manager, the Earlycareers team, the apprentice managers, my SE/DE and the College. I am able to go to a range of people if I need support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive support from the apprenticeship manager and my tutors. they are always ready to help and are understanding that we also work on site.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me understand the commercial aspect of my role that I may not be involved in such as contracts and programmes. It has also helped me understand the design side which is also not something I am heavily involved in.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many hosted by YoungBAM including site visits and social events.

  • Yes

  • I feel well looked after and the company is always looking to improve. The benefits they provide are also amazing.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • With any apprenticeship, learn to manage your time well. With the support from BAM, you should be well prepared.
