  • My role is to ensure compliance with the regulations of the local and state governments. I oversee quality control and training the staff on basic hygiene and safety practices. On a daily basis, I am involved in establishing, and enforcement of protocols of sanitation to minimise risk and potential safety hazards.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working at Gracewell Healthcare has provided me with a range of skills that involve safety regulations and customer services. I have also managed team leadership and contribution in risk assessment and identification of potential hazards around me. I have also learnt to effectively communicate and teach the masses about sanitation and hygienic principles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My passion for public health coupled with the exciting programme has been key. I am able to do what I have always dreamt of. Because it is not a static field, it is changing and evolving everyday following scientific advancements and emerging trends in lifestyle I have been able to enjoy myself and keep myself motivated.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of this programme covers the required modules that go with being a health officer. Modules on sanitation, customer relations, human resource management and a bit of financial literacy are covered. These modules are for the whole health topic that gives one an idea of what is expected of them in real life situations.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Gracewell Healthcare has employed adequate qualified people who together with we work as a unit to ensure maximum work is done at the right time. Also other things such as positive motivation from the employer has been a true blessing and has caused positive competition among the employees to work harder.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Gracewell Healthcare through the training provider has been a vital resource that indeed is irreplaceable. They organise seminars and workshops that are part of developing new skills and interests within health. The training provider has also been present to answer my unending question and given me an opportunity to learn and gain experience.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As a health officer at Gracewell Healthcare, my roles involves risk assessment and quality control. With a strong foundation in these areas I have given my best output towards success of the organisation. My qualifications on health and hygiene are a vital addition to passion about health. In this regard, I am confident in my performance.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In terms of extra-curricular activities we have workshops and seminars that we frequently attend and participate in. We also volunteer on community activities like cleaning the town, and organise campaigns on basic and important health practices. We also organise games that bring the employees together and give us opportunity to learn from each other.

  • To someone who is applying at gracewell be ready to work when called to do so. It is impossible to highlight your strengths and work on your weaknesses. It is a valuable to be a team member and contributor. Gracewell is a place where one comes in open minded and ready to learn.
