  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is looking at risk and control and assessing if they manage to mitigate risks faced by the organisation. If they don't then we will put in action plans in place in order to get the controls up to the required standard needed to reduce risks posed by the organisation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I develop new skills. On a daily basis I am given new pieces of work that requires me to go out and develop new skills. I am also actively encouraged to develop the existing skills I have. I am fully supported throughout the whole process of developing new and existing skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on. I get to experience and see different parts of my organisation which allows me to see different areas where I might want to work in future. Every piece of work is different and you get enough work in order to continuously develop and learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured and well through out. The programme ensures we receive enough support in order to complete all assigned work and learn effectively on the job but also ensures we have all the right tools to pass all of our professional qualifications. The learning journey is effective and well through out.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am continually supported by my team I work with on a daily basis but also the external apprenticeship team who ensure I have all the right tools to complete my qualifications. They have a well thought out structure for the programme where I get to rotate round different teams and see different parts of the bank.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am well supported by the training provider. I have regular catch up calls with my talent coach provided by the training provider where it is discussed that I am meeting all my targets and I am on track to completing my qualifications. Where I am not on track they help me to get back on track by supporting me in whatever way I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications I complete allow me to have a better understanding of my day to day role as they all count towards me gaining a professional internal auditor standard. What I learn in the qualifications I am doing on a daily basis so I am putting into practice what I am learning. My training provider helps me to implement my learnings into my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra curricular activities I can be involved in. They vary from getting involved with different networks such as rainbow or supporting women in banking through the Inclusion & Diversity networks to helping create different newsletters or organising events for colleagues. As apprentices you are actively encouraged to get involved in all these activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I am well supported throughout my apprenticeship and I think the job prospects afterwards are very good. They are a very fair employer who try to support you in any way they can and are willing to make special arrangements should you need them. You will feel as soon as you get in the job that you will not have regretted your decision to join.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • When applying I would make I have researched the company beforehand and know about all the companies/ products in order to best form answers. I would always be myself and let my true character show during interviews/ the application process. Ask questions of what will be expected of you in order to get the full picture of what your role on a day to day basis will look like.
