  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was to train new and existing staff on procedures that applied to their specific roles. I was also an expert in all parts of my job and on all stations within my store. I would also assist managers with the running of shifts to make sure the store ran efficiently.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt more about why certain food safety and catering laws and rules were in place and developed my existing skills so that I could pass these on to other staff members who could in turn develop their skills to make them better at their jobs within the McDonald’s company.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My trainer was very helpful and always explained why we would do what we were doing. It gave me additional things to do when working making it not the same thing every day and helped advance my career within McDonald’s and progress further in the company into new roles.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Their were days when the trainer was meant to show up but didn’t, however this didn’t really affect anything as I was already in work anyway. The structure of training and homework worked well and didn’t make working any more difficult or stressful which is what I was worrros about.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They would allow my time off shift to complete homework when the store was busy. They would allow the trainer full access to the store so they could support me and assess my training that I was receiving in store through the apprenticeship that I was completing at the time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The trainer would always support me when working towards my qualifications and was flexible around deadlines when I was too busy for certain things such as when I had holiday and events on. They were available to email at any time if there was anything I was unsure of to assist me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has given me more knowledge on my role which allows me to pass on my understanding to others which in turn helps them and the company have more competent staff in relation to food safety and catering rules and procedures. This would be great for other people to do.
