  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have received training on the low-code platform AgilePoint. This is going to be used to recreate some of the forms that are currently used in our systems. Little coding experience is needed, however I do believe my previous coding experience through my degree has been helping me during the training and using the platform.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I recently took a break from learning due to having a baby and going on Maternity Leave from work. At first I did find it difficult to get back into the swing of things so found myself struggling to enjoy the programme. However having finished the year and looking back, I do feel like I have enjoyed the restart in learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This has been a mixed bag. I believe the Level 6 Unit should of been delivered in the second half of the year and not the first as the Level 5 Unit would of support my learning further and helped me to perform better in that unit. Additionally the Web Development Unit was taught by a lecturer that had not created the content and was covering for a lecturer that had left. This made the Unit feel disjointed. All the content still had last years dates on them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. If I ask for additional time for an assignment, they make sure they can free me up so that I have time to focus on my assignment. They also proof-read my work and provide constructive feedback to help me improve my work further.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has been brilliant with regard to support. We have skills coaches that check in with us a few times in the academic year to check on progress and well-being. I have been very lucky that my skills coach is very approachable and if I have any issues with regards to work or my course, I know I can go to him.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It's not an instant feeling. I don't automatically think I suddenly perform better. However the training has given me the skills and tools to feel more confident in how I perform my role. I try and use as many of the suggested ways of formatting and organising work in my every day job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Work always has a lot of activities to get involved in. We have a content site where we can share interesting subjects that are not just work related. This has been really useful and entertaining especially with hybrid working. We also have a work band that perform as events that are brilliant.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Marshalls to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would also recommend Marshalls to a friend. I have worked for them for over 17 years and they have been brilliant in developing and helping my grow. They have great benefits and it has been great in being able to have a hybrid way of working. As I live about an hour away to takes some of the commute stress away. Although sometimes, I do enjoy the drive.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marshalls?
  • I think the main thing is to be yourself. You want to work for a company if they are the right fit for you and personality is a big thing when it comes to an interview. Your CV has your credentials and has go you in the room. It's all about if Marshalls believe you will fit the culture well.
