  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am responsible for the day to day running of the swimming pools and activities. I look after the team and organise activities. I open and close the facilities and maintain the pools. Look after team and there wellfair and check in on them with wellfair chats. Help senior management.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of skills whilst been at haven. Been put on a lot of courses which I wouldn’t have got at other places. I’ve also been involved in the apprenticeship program which has help enhance my skills within the department and help progress my career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the program I was on because it helped me get involved more with senior management. It allowed me to learn more things about my department and work on my skills as a shift leader. Helped me to understand team more and help them progress into other roles and challenges.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was very well organised with all the course planned out so I knew exactly what was expected to complete the course. It was split into sections allowing me to complete these easier. There was help along the way with any thing I didn’t understand. And help with planning

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my employer. Mainly with task or areas of the department I didn’t understand which were relevant to the modules I was doing with the course I was on. Time was set aside for me to be able to complete the tasks I needed to do

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider helped a lot and supported me all the way. From face to face visits and phone calls. If I ever needed help with any certain subject they were always there to help if needed. Everything was explained so I always had the best understanding of each task

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I now understand more about my department and my job role through the help of this qualification and the help from the training provider. It has help me gain more of an understanding of different sections of my work and giving me the tools to help others that may need it

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We don’t have much in terms of out of work activities. How ever we do do team events to help with team building. This always helps to build a relationship with the team as well. And allows for the team to relax and enjoy their time with in the company.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It’s a great place to work. They invest a lot of time and money into your progression and give you all the tools and opportunity’s to do well and progress within your chosen profession. It’s a great place to meet new people and work towards your goals.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bourne Leisure?
  • I would say always go for the goals you want to achieve. They will always be there to help. Evan if the goal isn’t work related. It’s a great place to start your career and they invest a lot of time into your training to help you progress
