  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the Innovation department as a Digital Engagement Analyst. I work closely with the Audit service line to understand their problems, and design solutions to them using the UX and design thinking methodologies. I work with the international Innovation community and have several internal projects across other service lines on the go.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Lots. I have developed UX skills by working alongside UX practitioners, business engagement and partnering skills, communication and team working skills. I have learned about product ownership, iterative development, agile methodology. I am also learning about digital strategies from my masters degree that is supported by my employer. It is great for personal development.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The lectures/workshops can be quite dry and repetitive, but the actual content we are taught is very interesting. My learning is strengthened by being able to apply straight away what I've learned. I am helping to change processes by applying theoretical models to my job and daily tasks.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very structured in that I get a whole study day a week to focus on study. However a few times I have has to work on my study days as my workload has maintained the same and I have 80% of the time to do it in. But overall pretty good.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support. Having a whole study day to dedicate is really helpful and appreciated. My line manager and the team are generally pretty interested in what I'm learning too and very keen for me to implement in in my role. Overall they are very supportive.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get a check in every few months with our skills coach, which is okay. Generally we don't hear from them much but they are very responsive t email if we email them. I probably don't need more check ins with my coach, and Northumbria Uni's resources are very good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The studying helps me so much. It gives me confidence and a better understanding of my sector and why certain decisions are made, which helps me do my job better. It helps me to contextualise my work and makes me feel more prepared for moving roles if I choose to do eventually.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are networks in my work, such as the LGBTQ+ group and lots of sports teams and a wellbeing network. I've just joined the book club at my work which I'm excited about. There are a lot of groups to get involved with at work which is great.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mazars LLP to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The employee benefits programme is great, such as private healthcare, and the people who work there are generally very lovely. It is a very flat structure so feels very open and supportive. We don't get loads of annual leave compared to other places I worked in before but we get an extra day off at Christmas.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mazars LLP?
  • Focus on quality - quality is hugely important at Mazars - quality of the person, of the work done, of the client, of valuing work and the fees that are earned. Also be very keen on your professional development because that's also a huge thing here. Be willing to learn and have attention to detail.
