  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills so far in my apprenticeship journey in this role with Pearson, the new skills I have gained include gaining stronger communication skills, organisation skills, confidence, problem-solving, and delegating, which are all key attributes of a project manager. I am also starting to grow in self-belief too which is a big skill to develop.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, I have been able to gain new skills and learn so much in such a short amount of time which has been really exciting. I have also made some great friends from the apprenticeship programme and have become an apprentice ambassador for Pearson which has developed my confidence no end.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well organised - we are able to take a day plus 2 hours each week out of work to focus on study time which is really useful to the programme and helps to gain a better understanding of everything we are learning. It is also great learning while physically doing the job at the same time - being able to put the theory into practice.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support received from my employer is outstanding, I feel supported in everything I do - especially from my line manager. Nothing I ask of him is ever too much and I am able to contact him with any questions I have. I also feel extremely well supported by the rest of my colleagues and the apprenticeship team.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider, nothing is ever too much trouble or a silly question to ask. The workshops are really good and everyone participates well together and all the information for the workbooks is always clearly explained. We are put into breakout rooms to work together in groups which works really well too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I have never worked in IT and have a background in childcare I came into this role knowing very little about the role. I have learnt so much about being a project manager and have even been able to run a project from initiation to final deployment with three separate phases. This has been a big accomplishment for me.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have recently joined the apprentice ambassador programme where we share out knowledge and experiences working as role models and buddies for other apprentices and line managers within the apprenticeship programme. I am also part of the association of apprenticeships whereby I attend events online and in person to learn and to network with other apprentices.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pearson plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Pearson is a great company to work for and complete an apprenticeship with, they provide the ongoing support and inspire their apprentices to learn and grow everyday. They are all round a great company. I would recommend completing an apprenticeship through Pearson to anyone who is thinking about it any-day.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson plc?
  • Just be yourself and have confidence in yourself and you will achieve. They are a great company to work for and believe in their people hole heartedly. If you know what you want to achieve and have passion in that then Pearson will see that and will believe in that too.
