  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at ARUP so far has involved involvement across a wide variety of projects. As a technician I find myself handling a lot of of the CAD that is needed for the projects such as vehicle tracking, detail design and street design. Due to the work based learning of my degree, I am required to gain experience across topics such as construction technology, surveying and cost control principles all of which I have found relatable experience for ARUP.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme greatly. My colleagues at work always lend a hand and are happy to answer any questions I have and of course they do this in the most pleasant way. Along with my work, the experience I have had with the university also reaffirms this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At Arup, there has been a system in place from day one of joining to ensure that I know what is going on. I believe it has been very well designed and the structure of the workload in the office reflects this too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has always made it known that any question is not a silly one. If the person I ask is not sure, there is always someone to direct to that knows the answer and it is important to them that this is found. I also have a mentor that is great.
