  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an assistant accountant apprentice, I balance apprentice AAT work with my job. My day to day is different as I deal with different queries each day while being trained on different systems and processes. As I do more training, I am given more responsibilities and become more involved in projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills, this is helpful as I send emails and join calls everyday. I have learnt new systems and processes which are relevant for the job role I am in. This allows me to pick a wider variety of jobs up daily. I have also learnt about AAT by doing my lessons.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme balancing both AAT work with my daily job. I am given six off the job hours each week to focus on the AAT work which helps. I have people I can contact if am ever unsure or need help which makes the programme a good experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel my programme is well organised and structured. All lessons are planned in advance with regular progress meetings. My training provider provides workbooks aswell as online resources so you have the choice to learn and do practise questions online or read a workbook. If you ever have any problems you can always email and receive a quick response.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel my employer is very supportive. They always have someone available to help on my day to day job. They also always make sure if there is anything I need to help me with my qualification it is available. I am actively encouraged to take my 6 off the job study hours each week.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider do a 3 hour lesson each week while sending all the learning materials before each lesson. There is numerous people available who you can email if you have any issues for a quick response. If you are struggling in any areas you can ask for extra support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification is helping me perform better in my role by giving me knowledge to be able to input in more specific conversations. A wider range of knowledge relating to my qualification also helps me understand what other people do in the business and what there responsibilities are.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a range of extra activities available at work such as volunteering opportunities. The company offer you 2 extra days off to go and pursue volunteering. Social events are organised aswell as regular networking events where people from other offices will visit another office to meet colleagues face to face.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend RSA insurance Ltd to a friend as I feel they are a good company to work for. They provide a good support system and try to help if you have any issues. The team I work in is also very supportive and welcoming and have been from the first day.

  • The tips or advice I would give to someone applying to RSA Insurance Ltd would be to try and do a bit of research about RSA Insurance Ltd and what they do before sitting any interview process. Try to be interactive and well prepared for all stages of the application process.
