  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The apprenticeship has been a ever changing and developing role. My responsibilities have increased as my experience within the company has grown this has lead to my day to day roles changing. A slight overview of my day to day is to take on jobs/tasks and complete them either by myself or as part of a team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My time management has definitely taken a drastic change, as our tasks/jobs are given with a set time frame for completion we are expected to manage our time accordingly. This also goes hand in hand with my team work and leadership skills, these tasks can be very versatile and can see a lot of people taking on their own responsibility.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As with any job there are good days and bad. On these bad days I don't find the job unenjoyable, these days tend to be due to the challenges put forward by the task. Overcoming these challenges are part of the enjoyment of the apprenticeship but getting to that stage can be difficult which only adds to the enjoyment at the end.

  • Our course is a 3 parter. We have the placement role which is intense and very well structured. Jobs are assigned week in advanced and support is alway available. The college course is very well structured with the moduels and material already being pre-determined. Our apprenticeship program is also well organised, we are well informed to any changes to our course or events that may take place.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is offered in may different forms, we are offered 1 to 1 support in all areas of our work/college and apprenticeship. We also have periotic reviews that highlight any areas we may need to cover for extra support or any potential areas we may need to cover in the future. This is then covered with a support plan and guidance in place.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are reviews held periodically to ensure that our college work is being completed to the correct standard. Our grades and performance are monitored and actions are taken to those that drop below the set standard. This is usually in the form of additional support in terms of help with the affected issues.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that we are working towards does tie into my day to day task. Although the information and modules we cover aren't a direct link to the work we do they do share similarities. This makes the qualification more enjoyable but also contributes to a wider understanding of how and why we work towards our standards.
