  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role can differ significantly. Days when i have back to back meeting this could be around discussing learning, reviewing feedback on courses or spending time on projects such as mentoring. When i don't have meetings i will be working on the projects which relate to my standard. For example; data evaluation, mentoring and design and delivery of courses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do enjoy my programme. I love the wide range of activities/ projects it allows me to get involved with. Being able to study and then put this into practice in the workplace is very effective for me. Although this programme has pushed me out of my comfort zone i wouldn't change this as its allowed me to learn and develop life skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured well. When i am not in workshops i work on projects that allows me to put my learning into practice as well as day to day jobs. I have scheduled workshop included in the programme as well as pre and post work around this. This supports my learning.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive significant amounts of support from my employer including line manager, apprentice manager and my mentor who has completed my apprenticeship recently. My line manager has been so supportive allowing me to push myself and support me in learning which is unfamiliar to me. Having regular progress reviews with my line manager and trainer has been very helpful too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My trainer does support me when submitting assignments and doing various pieces of learning. I am one of the less experienced apprentices on my cohort and my trainer has been very supportive in my learning. I receive a lot of good quality feedback on each assignment which has been useful in my development

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • By completing the qualification, the learning i gain can be further developed in my workplace. It helps me to perform much better by learning different perspectives of things as well as learning about topics which sometimes you lack knowledge in as they aren't spoken about enough in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do have networking events and opportunities particularly from an Learning and Development perspective. We also have new talent social events which are open to graduates, interns and apprentices to network and socialise. This could be; bowling, laser tag ect. It is a great way to get all of the new talent together. However we don't have any sport teams events- i think this something missing in the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Severn Trent to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I love the culture, the values (care, courage, curiosity and pride) and the people at Severn Trent. These combined create the main reason i would recommend Severn Trent to a friend. I would definitely recommend apprenticeships at Severn Trent to due to the support and progress i have seen and received.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
  • In terms of the application process definitely be yourself and don't answer what you think they want to hear because this isn't the case. Make sure also to research the company thoroughly before applying to ensure you fit the value and organisation culture as this is strong at Severn Trent.
