  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a student in this brilkiant course my day-to-day is similar to what it was before except now I have the opportunities I need to excell myself and learn a lot more in my work place with the introduction of off the job hours meaning I can learn whilst I earn.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot more about the ins and outs of the organisation. Whether it be to do with office based tasks, the companies processes, team dynamics or managerial methods and techniques there has been so much already that I can take from this course and there is still so much more for me yet to come.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much, it is not complicated and easy to stay on top of if you put the work in. My tutor is fantastic and has helped me through every step of the way and made sure that the senior members of staff I work with are also ready to help me should I have any questions.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured with an easy to follow way of doing things. There are modules that come through week by week. There has been a few changes on how to submit off the job hours but it is still a new programme and things have to be worked out still, any changes that are made are done so to benefit everybody who is a part of this programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employers help if ever I feel like it is necesarry they have been brilliant with me and especially so has my tutor who has gone above and beyond to ensure that my employer is fully on board with my apprenticeship and making sure I have access to all the support I could ever need. However with the nature if my work it isn't always easy to get off the job hours as regulalrly as I would like.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been outstanding for me, even in the times of which I have fallen behind a little bit they have remained patient with me and helped me through every step of the journey. Cannot be any more pleased with the support I am provided with from my tutor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There has been a lot of new thjngs I have learned which has given me a much more deeper understanding of the organisation, my role within this organisation and also the role I am working towards. There is no doubt that this qualifaction has helped me improve as an employee and manager of iceland.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are 5 a side football events from time to time, unfortunatley I couldn't get involved in this one coming up. We are all getting together soon as a store to celebrate winning the winter incentive and last year I did a 30km walk for charity from Cromer to Great Yarmouth.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Iceland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • As a shop we have a wide range of items and deals to choose from including exclusive lines that can only be found at iceland. As a job I would also reccommend it as the people I have worked with are all nice and friendly and the opportunity for progression is always there should you seek it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • Iceland isn't a walk in the park and can get very busy so be prepared for hard but also very rewarding work as you supply your local community with all their grocery needs. Be yourself as Iceland welcomes all folk no matter of background. Be confident and always wear a smile.
