  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • as a mechanical design apprentice i use modelling softwares to design engineered devices to be implemented on site. i assit my team with engineering decisions and work together to arrive at the most suitable solution

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • - CAD - dramatically increased my soft skills such as communication and collaboration... - organisation - general engineering knowledge and now how - a range of skills which i perhaps dont recognise right now...

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the programme has been thoroughly enjoyable and once i understood the reasoning for things there wasnt a second i didnt enjoy

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the lvl 3 itself is well structured and both cavendish nuclear and training 2000 made it clear what was required for my level 3. i must say when it comes to furthur development things were unclear and it became abit confusing. my score will reflect the lvl 3 structure

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i believe i was lucky to come across some great people who were willing to help however i know this isnt the case for alot of people. and with no dedicated EC officer for my area some may have felt as if they were on their own.

  • support was excellent

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the skills i learnt with my training provider have become essential. they gave me the base knowledge i required. i refer to my experiences from my training provider daily

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes several however they could be communicated better... i think i only know of them through speaking to others...

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I am having a fantastic experience. i personally have been supported quite well (not the same for all apprentices). i really look forward to the future and my progression within Cavendish Nuclear


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cavendish Nuclear?
  • If possible get some work experience/internship in nuclear previously. learn our principles and demonstrate them. come to careers fairs and chat to us.
