  • I began working at the branch in July 2022 as a Customer Service Advisor, in a busy branch that is located in the town centre. Since working for the bank I have enrolled on a Level 3 Senior Customer Excellence Apprenticeship where I will gain my chartered banker qualification and learn the ins and outs about banking. My main duties are: -Serving customers and giving them excellent customer service so they will return. -Cash Handling -Making transactions for customers -Greeting all customers that walk through the door with a positive, friendly approach to ensure they are going tot he right place with what they're needing to do to avoid disappointment of queuing in the wrong place. -Helping customers with complex quires -Serving savings customers to get the most out of their money -Balancing tills including the bulk safe. -Identification of customers for account openings - -Recording appointments

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • On my apprenticeship I have learnt so many new things, for example the way a cheque is cleared and the way a bank works. To be honest before working in the bank I was naive and assumed when you put money into your account it will sit there however it doesn't! It's how money gets around with lending.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme by learning more and taking a deep dive into everything it is teaching me. I also enjoy the time I get to learn my apprenticeship because I love learning. I also made really good friends when going to the welcome day and we support each other with our learning, it's really nice we can speak to people who are in the same position as us along with the amazing support from the tutors.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised I use the colleges website to log all my learning, with that me and my tutor are the ones who have access to it so I always know where I am at with it, it is very easy to understand and follow. I can also leave notes on any piece of work and my tutor will always follow it up with me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am getting so much support from my employer. I am fortunate enough to be given 6 hours a week (a full day) to learn. I will come into work every Tuesday in non uniform to learn this way I can't be interrupted or expected to go onto the counter.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The amount of support I have received from my training provider is excellent, I would recommend them to everyone! My skills coach Donna, is always there to help me with anything. She is always an email away and responds instantly. I also have a workshop once a month and that covers everything I will have learned in the unit we have just covered for the month. We also cover important things like British Values and making sure I am feeling safe and supported at home and work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe this has boosted my confidence in day to day role, with learning all the ins and outs about banking it has been really interesting to implement my leaning into my day to day role. For example when a customer asks how long it will take for a cheque to be deposited into their account, I can say the answer confidently.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Every 3-4 months we try to organise a work get together for team bonding. This has a really positive impact on everyone in the branch as it is a good conversation starter and it is a way of building bonds and trust between each other. The one we did last time was bowling and I won :)

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • One of the best companies I have ever worked for, you feel extremally valued to come to work along with the extra benefits for example FLEX. I have only worked for the bank since July and I have already had 3 extra payments on top of my wage and studied in my apprenticeship, savings, bereavement, third party represent access and power of attorney. I am very excited to see where my career will take me within Lloyds and I am confident that I will be here for many, many more years to come.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • I would say to be yourself, really read the job description and make sure it applies to you and it is a job that you can see yourself doing. Remain confident in the role and if you are wanting to progress and go far to make sure you make it a wear to everyone you are hungry for success and you want to achieve the most you can from working with Lloyds. It is a fantastic company to work for, so take your time in applying and don't rush things, make you the best candidate for the job.
