  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I start by going to a site briefing that lets us know what's happening on site that day and any hazards. I then go to site to see what work was done overnight and let everyone know what works are happening that day. I then make sure i get all the correct paperwork to give them for the next day and go back to site to see what works have been done that day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes Ive done first aid training, IFE training and have opportunities to learn how to correctly survey a site. I have learnt what different paperwork is such as TBS (Task briefing sheet) and WPP (Works package plan). And most importantly, I have learnt the process of redeveloping an entire station.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it very much. There's some bad days where things are slow however I have a great team behind me who always lift me up. I have learnt so much and learn something new everyday. I also now have so much experience of working on a construction site. I couldn't ask for a better programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the start of the programme things were quite unclear, when i was starting and where to go, and the job role. However after everything was confirmed all the information became very clear and they made an effort to verbally explain where to go and how my day would start and end. So now i can confirm it is well organised.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again I receive a lot of support. If i need help with any of my work they are happy to help and support me. Also if I need time off (reasonably) to do uni work or anything like that they are happy to compromise so I can get it done.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I dont think that at this stage my qualification is very helpful. I haven't had to use any knowledge that i have learnt at uni in my day to day job. Anything i have learnt at uni that ive used on site i had previously already learnt at work e.g. Slump test.
