  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Within my role I needed to use a laptop and computer screen. The main responsibilities within my role was to complete my business level 3 assignments within their deadlines, complete a minimum of 20% off the job training, and have regular meetings with my training provider to go over my assignments and what was to be expected at the end of my apprenticeship. Within my day to day role, I also needed to perform placing orders, running reports, getting estimated time of arrivals and proof of deliveries for orders, answer mailbox queries, liaise with sales order management and purchase order management, and more. Daily interactions internally included speaking with my manager and the wider team. I also took part in projects such as case for change, which was included in the assignments that needed completing for my apprenticeship with babington.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship I definitely learnt a lot of great skills. These included being more organised within a professional role, networking and liaising with people in order to help me fulfil my role, including communication skills in order to do this, computer skills such as using excel, word, PowerPoint and outlook, and got to massively improve on a skill I 6found very difficult which was public speaking; through presenting PowerPoints to groups of people and doing monthly reviews where I had to share what I have learnt so far and how I am finding the apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Without a doubt I enjoyed my programmes a lot, as I had great people who I could communicate with on a daily basis and got a lot of support from my manager. The material within the business level 3 was good, however sometimes repetitive, but helped me to memorise what I needed for my end exams. I found the balance between the apprenticeship and the job role was good, and I always had enough time to complete my assignments. If I ever did have any critiques about the programme, I felt I was able to communicate these openly and saw results from my feedback. I feel the end of the apprenticeship was a bit rushed, but am glad that I passed quickly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I felt the programme was very well organised. This was evident when looking at my profile on OneFile, I was able to find everything I needed for my assignments, how to log my off the job hours, what feedback I needed to give and where I could find any helpful information. Each assignment was given to us with a full explanation, along with supporting documents which had examples and information about the topic to help us. I also would have meetings with my coach to go over what criteria we needed to hit for each assignment so that I could hit as many of the criteria as possible. At the beginning of the apprenticeship, we were told what would happen, what each step of the programme would be and what the end result would be. The programme was structured so that we were introduced to it, completed the assignments and worked towards our end point assessments.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my employer during this apprenticeship. Within my role I also needed to complete my maths functional skills and was given a lot of support on this, through having 1-2-1 sessions with my manager, having monthly calls with my tutor, booking in and attending maths calls with an instructor within a group so we could go over the different criteria within my functional skills and much more. I gained a lot of support with my assignments from my colleagues and my manager, along with the regular calls I had with my coach. Once I reached the end of my apprenticeship and was starting preparation for my exams, I was given a lot of help and received helpful information packets and links to better prepare for my end point exams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I would have 1-2-1 sessions with my coach every week or every couple of weeks to go over what needed completing, any useful information I could use online and examples to help me. The training provider also set up workshops to go over what would happen towards the end of the apprenticeship, sessions on our final multiple choice questionnaire exam and helpful maths sessions for my maths qualification. I also got support through OneFile, where assignments had added helpful information on them and I received helpful feedback on my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Not only have I been able to learn about businesses and how they run, but I have also learnt important skills to help me within my role such as communication and organisation skills. Within the apprenticeship, we learnt about things like social media and security, laws and regulations and GDPR which are all helpful for me within my role when considering what I can and cannot post about my work, and how I communicate with customers so that I am not sharing their personal information and doing my work in a secure way.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work there are a range of activities we can take part in. For example, as an apprentice I was involved in FreshMinds, where we would do activities like virtual pizza making, virtual cocktail making, going out to places in London to network and more. There are also things within our company like Coffee Dates, choir clubs, football clubs and we regularly have outings with vendors to network with them. We also arranged team activities like going out for meals so that we could all get to know each other better.
