  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day bases my role requires me to complete daily tasks such as filtering customer reports as well as generating customer orders. Our customers are large businesses and public sector bodies who rely on us to provide them with computer technology and transform there businesses through the technology and services we provide. I will personally be involved in team meetings and other social activities in order to better understand the day to day operations of the business and the accounts im on as well as broaden my network of people around the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time so far i have developed a lot of new skills mainly based around internal systems and the companies way of doing business as well as develop my soft skills further such as, communication, presenting and multitasking skills. Computacenter will push and support you with all areas you want to grow in and will want to see you grow throughout the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have found the programme thus far very enjoyable. This mainly comes down to being involved in and learning something completely new while also pushing myself to do more within the company. The programme can at times be challenging but if you commit yourself to wanting to learn then there is no reason you cant achieve.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organised well. however, due to the constant shifting nature of the business. not every aspect can be planned for the entirety of the programme. saying that you will have clear objectives and or schedule that will be planned out far in advance allowing you time to plan and prepare.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from Computacenter has been amazing, not only will you have a really supportive line manager who will push you but also support you throughout the whole length of your programme but also the teams of people you will work with are all there to see you succeed as well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • So far the support from the training provider has been great, there is usually some interaction whether that is 1-2-1 or team based once a week as well as workshops with other apprentices in other businesses as well. you can also always message your training provider if you need help and they are usually very quick to respond if you need support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There is a lot of criteria to meet in the qualification and it is all achievable within the role itself but by comparing areas you may be weak in to what can be done within the role. You can action out time to improve those areas and therefore not only get better in an area of your role but also meet criteria through the qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are loads of activities to do outside of work that happen pretty often to. for example there is a football team who play every Tuesday. There is also a lot of social events that happen which allow you to expand your networks and meet new people but also to just have a good time.

  • Yes

  • The opportunity for career growth and to be a part of a growing business in a sector which is constantly evolving and innovating is very exciting and can offer you a career for life if you so choose. it is a business that if you want to grow and work your way through the business then the company will support that and guide you to success.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
  • Whatever role you go for, know that while experience can help you it is more about the type of person you are. Computacenter wants to employ people who want to succeed and grow there careers. If you can show you want to learn and build a career you will go far at Computacenter.
